December 2022 – January 2023

Overview

I made this page for "Caroling in the Dovecote", an event where Jagiellonian University staff and students sing carols together. It's both a page promoting this event and a songbook. The page allowed us to save paper by letting people use their phones instead of printed songbooks. I also prepared a paper songbook, invitations, and posters for the event.

What I learned

I have deepened my knowledge of React.js.
Deploying react website on own hosting.
SEO basics.
Using Google Analytics.

Development process

Hi-Fi Functional prototype → Writing promotional content and editing carols → Programming → Publishing the website → Making invitations, songbook, and posters.

Typography

Vinque – a font that draws inspiration from the legendary William Morris' typeface Troy, which features a magnificent blackletter style that harkens back to the medieval era. With its simple yet stylish design, Vinque is not only visually appealing but also easily legible.
Georigia – a font used for all body text to improve readability, elegant serif typeface that is legible on small screens.

Inspiration

15th century Boucicaut Master Book of hours.

Result

The event went well. People had fun using songbooks on phones.
